Bill would end practice of trying to convert gay people

ALBANY-- Mental health professionals are asking young gay people to change their mind and that is not right, says one gay state lawmaker.

New York's only openly gay Senator Brad Hoylman, D- Manhattan, recently introduced legislation known as the "conversion bill". The bill would lead to sanctions against mental health professionals, including a suspension of their license, if they are found to be trying to convert gay people to heterosexuality.
