Clifton Park offering free mosquito dunks

CLIFTON PARK -- Residents in one local community are being offered free BTI dunks to help with mosquito control.
The Town of Clifton Park is offering them to all residents.  BTI is a bacterium that specifically targets mosquito larvae, and the town says that the BTI dunks pose no harm to plants or animals besides the mosquito larvae.
The mosquito dunks are now available at the front reception desk at Town Hall, and each mosquito dunk comes with information and usage instructions. The town implemented this program in 2004 to help reduce the active mosquito population. The town said that they chose BTI as a safe alternative to spraying, which is used elsewhere.
