Ice cream truck turf war

GLOVERSVILLE -- Two ice cream truck drivers are accused of giving a rival a frosty reception in Gloversville. Police arrested Sno Cone Joe owners Amanda Scott, 21, and Joshua Malatino, 34, for Stalking and Harassment.
The two are accused of following Mr. Ding-a-Ling driver Philip Hollister at least three times while loudly playing music and yelling “free ice cream” to potential customers.

“If I have someone behind me blaring their music and offering free ice cream it's a little ridiculous,” said Hollister.

Hollister claims the two began harassing him on his first day of work because they claimed Sno Cone Joe controlled ice cream sales in the city. After nearly two weeks, he went to the police to report the incidents and Malatino and Scott were arrested.

Malatino did not return a phone message seeking comment.

“It's been an ongoing issue with other vendors that have been trying to sell ice cream in Gloversville,” said Hollister. “I never planned on this happening. I just wanted to try and help my family out, make a few bucks, have fun and put some smiles on children's faces. It's unfortunate that it came to this.”
