Cohoes principal keeps job after buying ammo on school grounds

COHOES - The Cohoes High School Principal will be keeping his job.

Principal Joe Rajczak has accepted a "penalty of consequence" after admitting to purchasing 500 rounds of ammunition on school grounds back on May 1.

Both the school board and Rajczak agreed not to discuss the details, or what penalty he would face.  School board president V.Mark Pascale said that the board weighed his tenure at the school as principal, intent of his actions, and track record to come to a resolution.

"I used poor judgment and fully accept the district's consequences for my actions," said Principal Joseph Rajczak. "I have always held the safety and security of our students and staff at the highest level in my role as the building principal."

Rajczak apologized, saying, "I will continue to work to provide a high quality teaching and learning environment for the students of Cohoes."
