FBI: man arrested on counterfeit stamp charges

BUFFALO - A Rochester man was arrested and charged with three counts of possession and sale of counterfeit postage stamps.

The FBI and the USPS Inspection Service say Alcides Marcelino sold counterfeit Lady Liberty and U.S. flag forever postage stamps on multiple occasions between early summer 2010 and July 19, 2011. 

The Postal facility in Buffalo discovered multiple letters with the counterfeit stamps on them. 

The investigation revealed the stamps were allegedly sold at several small grocery stores in the Buffalo area.

Marcelino was arraigned in federal court,  If found guilty, the maximum penalty is five years, or $250,000.
