NYC woman catches baby falling from 2nd floor

NEW YORK (AP) -- A quick-thinking New York City woman strolling along a sidewalk caught a baby who fell from a second-floor fire escape.

New York Police say the 44-year-old woman caught the 1-year-old boy after he fell from a fire escape outside a second-floor apartment in Brooklyn on Wednesday. Police say the baby somehow climbed out of the apartment onto the fire escape.

They say the baby is in stable condition.

The baby's parents, 23-year-old Sam Miller and 24-year-old Tiffany Demitro, were both arrested and each charged with reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.

The parents were in custody and unavailable for comment Wednesday. Attorney information for them was not immediately available.
