Reviving business in Lake Luzerne

LAKE LUZERNE -- A new company is giving hope to an economically depressed area.

"It's hard to keep small businesses going all year round, especially here in Lake Luzerne, but you make it work," says Town Supervisor, Gene Merlino. Little towns need small businesses. Together as one large entity we bring people into our town."

River Ridin' is a new company that recently opened in Lake Luzerne. The business is a great resource for both tourists and locals of the Adirondack region, and just about anyone looking for water excitement.

"Small businesses is what this town is made of. Tourism is stable because of people like Chandler and operations like River Ridin.' We don't have the infrastructure for large businesses, we only have one traffic light in town. The more small businesses, like River Ridin' the more tourists we attract," says Merlino.

"Tourism has never failed us, whether the economy is good or bad. People love to play in the Adirondack," says Chandler Atkins, owner of River Ridin'.

River Riden' provides equipment for any and all water sports that can be used on the Hudson River. Visitors can rent tubes, rafts, kayaks, boats, jet skis and the new donut tube trac-yak paddler.

"We all try to help each other out and promote one another," says Merlino.
