Rochester Attorney becomes president of NY Bar Association
ALBANY -- A Rochester attorney has taken office as president of the New York State Bar Association.
David Schraver, a partner in the Nixon Peabody law firm, says his one-year term that began this month will focus on the profession's education and future when many law school graduates are carrying six-figure debts and uncertain job prospects.
He succeeds Seymour James from the Legal Aid Society of New York City.
Schraver says new attorneys should have the opportunity to start careers "without being overwhelmed by law school debt."
