Fort Plains Police Chief Robert Thomas told CBS6 just before 11 p.m. Friday that the search for people unaccounted for had been called off until morning. Richard Brown, the former son-in-law of 87-year-old Ethel Healey, said the search had begun around 8:30 p.m. Healey's trailer home on Abbott Street was washed away. Brown said Healey was in her home at the time. "We had a search and rescue team here from New York State Homeland Defense and Emergency Services with K9 searching every residence in the hardest hit area," Roberts told reporter Craig Smith. "We have secured due to darkness and safety concerns. We will resume in the morning."Roberts said a curfew began at 8 p.m. "We hope residents will cooperate with our continued cleanup efforts and remain safe at home tonight."
