Amsterdam police describe Grand St. shootout

AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam police say a Bunn Street man was apparently shot in the back of the head Saturday afternoon after having gone to 218 Grand Street, where police say words were exchanged between a tenant there and either the injured man or one of two friends who were with him.

Police say they were first alerted by someone who called saying someone was leaning out of a window firing a shotgun.

In a news release, police said 21-year-old Christian Garcia of 218 Grand St. fired several shots from his apartment on the second floor. Police say the injured man, 40-year-old Angelo DeAngelo returned several rounds with a handgun. Both men were arrested. Garcia was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and menacing. DeAngelo was charged with reckless endangerment and menacing. Police say more charges are possible.
