Possible rabid fox killed in Gloversville following attack

UPDATE:

Gloversville Police say the fox that was killed after biting a woman several times on her front porch has tested positive for rabies.

Test results from the Fulton County Public Health showed that the red fox tested positive for rabies.  The victim of the red fox attack hase been notified of the test results and has been referred for secondary treatment of the injuries and exposure to rabies.  Anyone else who may have come in contact with a red fox in the upper Bleecker Street area of the City of Gloversville are advised to take actions to avoid contracting the rabies virus. 



GLOVERSVILLE -- Gloversville Police say they've killed the fox they believe attacked a person on Monday.
It happened on Bleecker Street in Gloversville during daylight hours which is what concerned officials.
The fox is being tested at the Fulton County Public Health Department to confirm if it had rabies.
