Woman, son rescued from NY home of armed man

NIAGARA FALLS (AP) -- Authorities say quick action by police officers led to the rescue of a western New York woman and her young son from a home where the woman's husband was threatening them with a rifle.
Niagara Falls police tell the Niagara Gazette that the woman's 24-year-old husband came home early Saturday morning after drinking all night and got into an argument with her. They say he took a firearm out of a gun cabinet and told her not to try to walk past him.
The woman eventually contacted police, who rescued her and her son by getting them out a bedroom window.
The man was later spotted sleeping on a couch. When police burst in and caught him, they say he had a semi-automatic AR-15 assault rifle, loaded with a 30- round magazine.
