NY levies $330,000 fine in Assembly sex harassment
ALBANY (AP) -- The state Legislative Ethics Commission has fined a New York assemblyman $330,000 over accusations he sexually harassed women staffers.
The commission concluded Assemblyman Vito Lopez violated state Public Officer's Law.
It found he took "inappropriate actions and (made) offensive comments of a sexual nature" to staffers.
The state Joint Commission on Public Ethics had detailed the accusations against Lopez when he was a powerful Assembly member and Brooklyn political leader.
Lopez has denied any wrongdoing. He resigned his Assembly post in May as Speaker Sheldon Silver moved to expel him and is now running for New York City Council.
There was no immediate comment Tuesday from Lopez's attorney.
