Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Man sentenced to prison for gun possession

ALBANY -- District Attorney P. David Soares announced Wednesday that Willie Hartfield, 63, of Albany, was sentenced to 7 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision.

On June 19, Hartfield pleaded guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

On January 8, the Albany Police Department executed a search warrant on the Hartfield's residence on Lark Street. They discovered a .357 caliber revolver loaded with 5 rounds of live ammunition. In addition, officers uncovered evidence of the defendant selling narcotics, including 3.8 grams of crack cocaine, baggies, razors and records of narcotics sales.
