AG: Bruno's daughter, boss filled out bogus time sheets
ALBANY -- The daughter of former Senate Majority Leader Joe
Bruno, Susan Bruno, and her former boss, John O'Connor, are facing felony
charges for allegedly putting in for time worked but never showing up.
While employed under O'Connor as an assistant for the Research Foundation of the State University of New York, Bruno and O'Connor are both accused of submitting false time sheets stating Bruno was on the clock when she wasn't.
According to court papers, Bruno collected $164,952 from the state for more than 4,000 hours of work and services she never performed.
Investigators found evidence she was at the Saratoga Racetrack, doing chores or handling personal matters while on the clock.
In March 2008, around the time when Eliot Spitzer resigned as governor, she stayed home to watch the scandal on TV, but is accused of filling out a time card that she was working.
She is also accused of clocking 15 hours of work while at her fathers home as his telephones were checked for bugs in the days when he stepped down as Senate Majority Leader.
