There remains considerable uncertainty in the track and intensity of an anticipated coastal storm from Wednesday afternoon through early Thanksgiving morning, but confidence is increasing for a storm to bring accumulating snow to much of the region which would cause travel difficulty.  Details on amounts and timing will become more clear over the next twelve to twenty four hours.  Keep up to date on the forecast.

Pittsfield to begin mosquito spraying

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Truck-mounted mosquito spray application is scheduled for the following areas to reduce the mosquito population and potential for infection:

Tuesday July 23rd after 10:00 pm:
  • Doyle Field
Thursday July 25th after 10:00 pm:
  • One mile radius from North Street and Crane Avenue
  • Onota Street to Seymour Street north of Linden Street
  • Lakewood neighborhood from Ventura Avenue to Longfellow Avenue and Grand Avenue to Yale Street
  • Commercial Street
  • South Street neighborhood from Baystate Road to South Mountain Road
  • Yankee Orchards neighborhood
The City of Pittsfield said that residents may want to take the following steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to the product: 
  • Close windows and doors and turn off air conditioners on the street side of property
  • Stay inside during application period
  • Rinse produce with water
  • Remove laundry from clotheslines
