UPDATE: Colonie PD search for 70-year-old woman

COLONIE - Police are confirming that 70-year-old Beverly Coss has been located.

An investigation revealed she had spent the night in a shelter in Albany, and attempted to get help to return to Iowa.

COLONIE -- The Colonie Police Department is trying to locate Beverly Coss.

The 70-year-old, whose vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Colonie Town Library, is 55, 140 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and is originally from Burlington, Iowa.

Coss was last seen on Wednesday morning in the library around 9 a.m., but when her vehicle was still in the lot at 9 p.m. employees called police.

Coss has been in the area since Tuesday for either church or disaster relief activities. 

Responding officers found a note addressed to Police that indicated that she was despondent and may be a danger to herself.  It appeared that she was living in her vehicle and her belongings were located in the vehicle. 

The area was searched with assistance provided from the Rennselaer County Search and Rescue dogs and New York State Police Aviation, but they have been unsuccessful up to this time.

Further searches are on-going.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
