UPDATE: Accident closes Route 22 in Granville
HEBRON - Multiple police and fire departments responded to a severe 3 car crash Saturday night around 10:00 that killed one and injured five, including a man that stopped to help.
One car, driven by 44-year-old Ora Roaix of Granville was traveling south on Route 22 when police say it crossed into the northbound lane and collided head on into an oncoming car. Roaix's car came to rest on its side blocking both lanes near the intersection of Dorence Lane.
The driver of the other car was 43-year-old Lisa Martin of North Adams, Massachusetts was pronounced dead at the scene.
20-year-old Logan Hall of Granville was traveling south and stopped to assist in the accident. While attempting to help Roaix, a third car driven by 87-year-old Dorothy Brace of West Pawlet Vermont, came over the crest of the hill and struck Roaix's vehicle, injuring Hall.
Roaix, the driver of the first vehicle, and the passenger of the second car, 44-year-old Mark Mattison of South Glens Falls, were flown to Albany Medical Center.
87-year-old Lois Nelson, the passenger of the third vehicle, and Hall were taken to Glens Falls Hospital by ambulance.
Dorothy Brace was treated at the scene.
Police at the scene found no signs of alcohol.
Route 22 re-opened Sunday morning around 7:00 a.m.
GRANVILLE – The Washington County Sheriff's Office has confirmed an accident at Route 22 and 31 near the Town Hebron. Injuries are unknown at this time, but up to 4 vehicles may be involved.
