Johnstown officer arrested on rape charges

JOHNSTOWN - A 9 year veteran of the Johnstown Police Department has been arrested on rape charges.

Police say Adam Schwabrow was arrested Thursday night and charged with one count of rape. His alleged victim is a 16-year-old girl.

In a press conference Friday, police said Schwabrow was suspended with pay from his job as the Montgomery County Emergency Management Director.  The Chief is moving to have him removed from the force.

Schwabrow is currently out on bail. The District Attorney is asking for a special prosecutor to handle the case given Schwabrows involvement in several criminal cases as a witness.
