Cancer Superhero inspires children at Albany Med
ALBANY - A graphic novel writer visited children at Albany Medical Center to introduce them to a Cancer Superhero.
Shira Frimer is the author of "Nistar", the story of a young cancer-surviving doctor who searches for a mystical stone that will help him save the life of a child with cancer.
The inspiration for the 104 page book after Frimer lost her husband to cancer 13 years ago.
The book was illustrated by renowned artist Josef Rubinstein, known for his work for DC comics and Marvel.
Frimer was at the Melodies Center Tuesday at Albany Medical Center signing copies of her book and doing crafts with the kids to inspire them in their own battle with cancer.
The event also brought attention to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
