Holloway reacts to arrests made this week
STEPHENTOWN -- "I wish that the parents would have stepped forward and that we could have worked on this together I don't really understand the decision they made."
Former NFL player Brian Holloway is taking a step back and taking in this weeks events. Wednesday, he decided to press charges on all those involved in a Labor Day party that left his Stephentown home in shambles with thousands of dollars left in damages. He says he's still baffled that parents never stepped up, and that's why he had to.
"I think they missed an opportunity, and right now having to see the first waves of arrests occur was really important for not only our community for our entire country," Holloway tells us.
Holloways says he's just learned that even more teens were in attendance. What he thought was just 300 he's now learned upwards of 400 people were partying at his vacation home.
Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department are asking those involved to simply turn themselves in.
"We are asking for the cooperation of anyone who was at the party and their parents we ask that they come forward and cooperate and that will definitely be looked upon favorable for them," Sgt. Shane Holcomb tells us.
Holloway says the reaction from those arrested has been shocking. He says many of them are happy with the national media attention, saying "thanks for making me a rockstar." But what shocks Holloway the most, was the plans in the making for an even bigger event through social media.
"That party was a planning party for the big event, I can't even imagine that. but the were planning those 400 hundred to get together to kick off a 4 thousand member invite party that was supposed to take place this weekend and it was their intent to create their own Woodstock. Thank goodness that didn't happen because people would have died."
As far as the property goes, Holloway says his number one concern is getting all the repairs made. As far as the investigation, he also tells us police have the names of all teens who were involved in the party. Anyone who was in attendance will be charged with Criminal Trespassing. Holloway expects all the arrests to me made over the next three months.
