Puppy found with throat ripped open, abandoned in parking lot

CATSKILL -- A 5-month-old puppy was found abandoned in a Columbia County parking lot with it's throat cut open last weekend.
According to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA in Hudson, a passerby spotted the puppy lying motionless on the ground. When they stopped to check on the dog they saw he had serious wounds, including a large cut under its throat, that appeared to be from another dog. The puppy was rushed to Chathams Small Animal Hospital and placed in intensive care for over a week.

Ron Perez, President and investigator for the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA said, "The puppy was a victim of a heinous dog attack, and the owner apparently didnt want to pay for medical care."
Owner of Chathams Small Animal Hospital, Jerry Belinski, expects the puppy to make a full recovery. Belinski will graciously be donating the majority of the recovery and medical expenses for the puppy.

If anyone has information about the puppy, they are encouraged to call the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigation unit at (518) 828-6044. The owner of the puppy will be facing animal cruelty charges.
