Troy man gets prison for screwdriver stabbing

TROY -- A 23-year-old Troy man was sentenced to four years in jail for stabbing another man in the neck with a screwdriver.
The stabbing happened back in November 2012 near the Midtown Grocery on Congress Street.
911 calls were made to Troy Police reporting a large fight outside the store. When officers arrived, they found 26-year-old Francis Smith of Troy with a screwdriver sticking out of the back of his neck.
Smith told investigators he, his wife and his brother had gotten into an argument with two men, one of them being Emmet Fullins. The argument escalated and Smith was stabbed by Fullins.
Fullins was arrested, charged and convicted of felony assault and burglary.
He was sentenced to 4 years in prison for the assault charged and has an  additional sentence of 1 to 3 years to run concurrent for the burglary conviction.
