Snow and Gusty Wind on Tuesday - Poor Travel Conditions Expected

A Nor'easter  is expected to impact the region today, but the impact around the Capital Region looks to be on the lighter side, as the storm takes a more Easterly track. Snow will become steadier from SE to NW this morning, with snowfall of varying intensity through this afternoon and evening.  A gusty NNW wind from 15-20 mph at times will cause blowing and drifting of the very dry snow creating poor visibility and hazardous travel conditions at times through late tonight. General Storm accumulations in the Capital Region of 2-6" are expected, with higher amounts across western New England.

Plane crashes in Saratoga County

EDINBURG -- Emergency crews responded to a plane crash in the town of Edinburg late Sunday afternoon that claimed the life of 55-year-old Timothy Cowper of Middle Grove.

Cowper was a 30 year veteran of the State Police and the military. He was the senior investigator for the division headquarters in Albany, and he was a certified licensed pilot.

Police say Cowper had flown his single-seat, aerobatic Pitts S-1 less than a mile after taking off from the Plateau Sky Ranch airport when the plane crashed and burned in a wooded area.

Saratoga County Sheriff's office received reports of an "ultra light" single engine plane down in the area of Tange Road in Edinburg shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday.

An eyewitness told police it looked as though the plane was experiencing some sort of mechanical failure.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
