Troy school 2 starts year with uniforms, longer day

TROY - Students in one Troy school will be starting the new year with some changes as part of a school improvement grant.

School 2 in Troy started the 2013-2014 school year with an extended day from 7:30 am until 4:00 p.m., three free meals, and uniforms.

The uniform is a purple polo shirt and tan pants.

Superintendent John Carmello says "We are very excited about the positive changes that we have in store for the students at School 2.  We are confident that with the expanded program and extended learning time, as well as the other initiatives, we will see an improved climate and culture at the school and an increase in student learning and achievement."

The cost of uniforms was donated by Durham School Services.
