Vandalized Uncle Sam head recovered

UPDATE: TROY -  Troy Police have recovered the head of Uncle Sam that was was vandalized back on August 23.

Investigators say they were led to a wooded area off of 11th Street Thursday afternoon and recovered the head of the Uncle Sam Statue displayed on State and Third.  The head was found in a black plastic bag.

Police are taking these acts of vandalism seriously as several statues have been vandalized in recent weeks.

Each statue roughly costs around $1,200.

TROY - Police have released a surveillance photo where another Uncle Sam Statue has been vandalized.

Police say the statue was beheaded at State and Third Street shortly after midnight back on Friday August 23.

In the photo it is believed that the male that beheaded the statue also walked off with it.
