Police: Man charged with stabbing apprehended in NYC

RENSSELAER - Police have arrested a Rensselaer man on assault charges after a stabbing at 85 Aiken Avenue on Monday afternoon.

Police arrested 45-year-old Edward Rivera after they say he stabbed a man in front of several adults and children, after an earlier alleged confrontation.

Rivera attempted to flee to New York City, but was apprehended at Penn Station.

He is charged with a list of charges, including assault, criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, and menacing.

Rivera was arraigned in Rensselaer City Court and sent to jail without bail.
