Rollover accident in Kingsbury
KINGSBURY -- Three people were brought to the hospital after a roll over accident in Kingsbury.
According to Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, on Friday at about 9:02 PM there was a single vehicle roll over accident on Rte 196 in the Town of Kingsbury. The driver, Steven Sharp, 20 of Granville, was observed by witnesses crossing back and forth over the center line, and then he went off the right hand side of the roadway, mounting an embankment, continuing in an easterly direction. The vehicle struck a rise on the embankment, causing it to become airborne, overturning and coming to rest facing in the opposite direction.
A female passenger was partially ejected and suffered severe injuries. She was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries. Sean Hale of Granville, another passenger, suffered minor injuries, and was transported to Glen Falls Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Sharp was transported to the Glens Falls Hospital for evaluation and possible treatment.
Police believe speed and alcohol are factors in the crash. The accident is being reconstructed by the Washington County Sheriffs Office and the Warren County Sheriffs Traffic Safety unit.
Rescue units on the scene were the Kingsbury Fire Department, assisted by the Hartford Fire Department, The Fort Edward Rescue Squad and Empire Ambulance Service.
