ALBANY (AP) -- A fatal truck accident on the New York State Thruway just south of Albany happened after the driver pulled to the side of the roadway to inspect a problem with the rig.
State police Sgt. Tom Ferritto said the truck somehow began to roll and ran over what troopers presume was the driver and continued on its own across the highway, blocking the two southbound lanes just after 3 a.m. Friday.
State police closed the entire section of the Thruway between Exits 24 and 23 and were diverting all southbound traffic off at exit 24 to Interstate 90 east.
