HHS says information is safe

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services says people who use the HeathCare.gov website to register for health insurance exchanges can be confident that their information is "protected by stringent security standards."

Concerns about security on the website are reflected in a government memo showing that administration officials were concerned that a lack of testing posed a potentially "high" security risk. It was granted a temporary security certificate so it could operate.

Meanwhile, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is telling Americans, "You deserve better." She delivered that message to Americans as she apologized for the problems plaguing the government health care website.

She told lawmakers on a House panel that she's the one who should be held responsible for the problems. But she says the situation is improving every day.
