Vt., EPA seek input on Lake Champlain cleanup

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Vermont are seeking public input on a recently released draft proposal to restore Lake Champlain.

They are holding six public meetings in December to discuss a draft proposal to reduce water pollution at the lake and its tributaries.

Polluted stormwater runoff is causing excessive plant and algae growth in some areas of the lake that turn water murky shades of green, brown, or blue.

The meetings are being held Dec. 2 in St. Albans and Swanton; Dec. 3 in Montpelier; Dec. 10 in Burlington and Middlebury; and Dec. 11 in Rutland.
