Snow and Gusty Wind Today - Poor Travel Conditions Expected

A Nor'easter  is expected to impact the region today, but the impact around the Capital Region looks to be on the lighter side, as the storm takes a more Easterly track. Snow will become steadier from SE to NW this morning, with snowfall of varying intensity through this afternoon and evening.  A gusty NNW wind from 15-20 mph at times will cause blowing and drifting of the very dry snow creating poor visibility and hazardous travel conditions at times through late tonight. General Storm accumulations in the Capital Region of 2-6" are expected, with higher amounts across western New England.

Empire State Plaza rink opening postponed

ALBANY -- Bad weather has forced officials to delay the opening of the Empire State Plaza ice rink.

The rink was scheduled to open on Friday, but the forecast has postponed that plan until December 7. The learn to skate clinic scheduled for Saturday has been canceled as a result of the postponement. Participants are encouraged to register for clinics being held later in the season.
