Mummies at the Albany Institute of History and Art
ALBANY - History is alive at the Albany Institute of History & Art
To celebrate the 104th birthday of the arrival the mummies to the institute, families were encouraged to take part in activities including sitting in the replica of a pharaohs throne while having their face painted, and learning the mummification process using stuffed animals or dolls.
Through food, dance, and music, the educational program detailed the life of an everyday ancient Egyptian.
The Albany Institute of History & Art was founded in 1791, during the presidency of George Washington, making it older than the Smithsonian, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
