Another administrator leaves NY hospital in probe
ALBANY (AP) -- Another top administrator has stepped down at Upstate Medical University in the wake of an investigation into the compensation of its president.
Dr. David Smith said in a statement last Thursday that he was cooperating with the probe by the State University of New York and was stepping down as president. On Wednesday, Upstate Medical confirmed to local media outlets that Steven Brady, Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance, had announced his retirement.
Brady also served as executive director of MedBest Medical Management, a company affiliated with Upstate. SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher said that's the company with which Smith set up a deferred compensation plan worth more than $349,000 without SUNY's approval.
A message left at a number listed for Brady was not returned Wednesday.
