Seven hour standoff leads to arrest

NISKAYUNA - A domestic dispute led to a seven hour standoff in a home on Balltown road Friday evening.

Niskayuna Police say 30-year-old Matthew Hayner of Gloversville ignored a restraining order when he entered a home on Balltown road where his child and child's mother reside at around 5:45 p.m. Friday evening.

Police say the child and the child's mother were able to leave and call police.  Negotiators attempted to make contact with Hayner, but were unable to contact him for most of the night, or determine if he was armed.

Shortly after midnight, Schenectady Police SWAT Team members entered the house and took Hayner into custody without incident.  He was not armed.

Hayner is scheduled to be arraigned in Niskayuna Town Court.
