Racking up the calories on Thanksgiving

A turkey dinner isnt the only reason youll be packing on the pounds this Thanksgiving.

The traditional holiday feast of turkey and the trimmings is about 2,000 calories. Thats the suggested amount of calories one person should have for an entire day according to a registered dietician.

But the problem, according to a new study, is most people dont just eat the turkey dinner. According to the study, with all the snacking throughout the day, the average adult eats up to 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving.

To put it in perspective, youd have to climb stairs for nearly 3 hours, jump rope for nearly 4 hours, or hike outdoors for nearly 7 hours to burn off all those calories.
