Gibson makes good on shutdown promise

HUDSON -- Republican congressman Chris Gibson said he wouldn't accept his pay during the government shutdown back in October. On Monday, he made good on the promise.

Gibson donated his salary from that time to a Catholic charities food pantry in Hudson. His wife, Mary Jo, volunteers there.

As part of the donation, he and his wife, along with staff members, helped prepare the Christmas baskets. The Congressman says it felt like a good way to give back to the community.

The baskets will be distributed to families in Columbia and Greene Counties.
