Credit union helps out community

ALBANY -- A local credit union is sharing its success with thousands of needy families by handing out checks to provide food and shelter for area residents.

For the fourth year in a row, the State Employees Federal Credit Union donated money to rescue missions and food pantries through the capital region. In all, over $128,000 was handed over.

Every year, SEFCU donates about 20 percent of their profits to a variety of causes. This year, the money went to the following organizations:

Sister Maureen Joyce Center: $10,000
Trinity Alliance: $5,000
St. John - St. Anne: $2,500
St. Catherine's Marillac Family Shelter - Catholic Charities: $2,500

Rensselaer County
CoNSERNS-U Food Pantry: $5,000
St. Paul's Center: $5,000
Roarke Center: $5,000
Hope 7 Food Pantry: $5,000
YWCA Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen: $2,500
Community Gardens: $2,500
Troy ICC Soup Kitchen: $1,000

City Mission of Schenectady: $15,000
Bethesda House: $5,000
Schenectady Inner City Ministry: $5,000

Saratoga County
Saratoga EOC: $5,000
