One killed in Lake Luzerne stabbing incident

LAKE LUZERNE -- A woman is dead following a stabbing incident involving her estranged husband.

Police were called to a home in Lake Luzerne around 5 o'clock on Christmas Eve. When they arrived, Patricia Burns was being treated by emergency officials for multiple stab wounds. A second victim, Megan Jenkins, 22, had also been stabbed on her arms when she tried to intervene.

Both women were taken to the Glens Falls Hospital, where Patricia was pronounced dead. Megan's wounds were not considered life-threatening.

According to reports, Clifford Burns, 46, attacked the victims and fled the scene. Authorities pursued a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's car until they reached the parking lot of the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Burns was taken into custody and charged with second degree murder.

Officials say the case remains under investigation and additional charges could be filed.
