Family center closed for NYC train derailment

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has closed a family center for those seeking the status of loved ones who may have been aboard a train that derailed en route to New York City.

The Metro-North train from Poughkeepsie to Manhattan derailed Sunday morning at around 7:20 a.m. City and state officials say that four people died and 63 were injured, about 11 seriously. The MTA had established the family center at JFK High School at 99 Terrace View Avenue in the Bronx.

Anyone seeking information about loved ones aboard the train can call 1-800-METRO-INFO, or dial 311 within New York City, or 212-639-9675.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
