Students will get portion of settlement with insurance company

ALBANY -- Students at local colleges will be getting part of a nearly $3 million settlement.

An investigation by the state's Attorney Generals Office found that Markel Insurance Company overcharged more than 22,000 students on their health insurance plans from 2007 to 2012.

Three of the 34 colleges involved are here in the capital region; the Attorney General's office says 1,000 students at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Science can expect a refund, as well as more than 400 Union College students.
