University offers dial-a-carol
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Telephonic caroling is way up this year at the University of Illinois.
The Dial-a-Carol service is a way for students to cope with the stress of finals. Students at the Champaign campus take calls and sing requests. The university says the students had more than 5,700 calls this year. That's up from 4,000 last year.
Dial-a-Carol doesn't raise money. It's done just for fun.
The students sang their last carol for the year Wednesday. The most popular request? "Jingle Bells," followed by Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas."
