Baby sitter charged with leaving toddler
DANVERS, Mass. (AP) -- A 23-year-old woman hired to baby-sit a 2-year-old child has been charged with leaving the toddler alone inside a Danvers apartment, then concocting a story about being kidnapped and stalked.
Lisa Dibiasso pleaded not guilty Wednesday to child endangerment, was released on personal recognizance and ordered not to work with children.
Prosecutors say the child's mother found Dibisasso on an Internet baby-sitting service last spring. The mother was informed by neighbors that they often saw Dibiasso leave the home alone.
When confronted by police, she at first claimed she had been kidnapped, then said she was being stalked and left for the toddler's safety. The child wasn't harmed.
The Salem News reports that her lawyer said the neighbors were disgruntled because she had replaced them as the child's caregivers.
