Railroad puppies earn grant for local humane society
HUDSON -- Out of 4,500 entries for the Petco Foundation Holiday Wishes Grant, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society was one of the top eight winners chosen.
The group was awarded $25,000 for the quality of their work with the so-called 'railroad puppies.' On September 8, 2012, three puppies were found on the railroad tracks at North Pearl Street in Albany with severe injuries. Hudson and Pearl, the two puppies, survived and were adopted.
The society's executive director, Brad Shear, says they were overwhelmed with the community's support surrounding Hudson and Pearl. No information has been released on what the grant money will be used for.
