Eight Troy PD officers injured responding to night club fight

TROY -- Eight police officers were injured while breaking up a fight at a night club that resulted in six arrests.
Police said they responded to a call for a fight in progress at Kokopellis on Fourth Street in Downtown Troy.  Police said that when the officers arrived, they encountered a crowd moving out to the street, and several people were arguing and fighting.
Police said that while officers located the assault victim, which was a bar employee, they were subjected to kicking, punching, pepper spray, and a fire extinguisher was emptied on them.  Officers were able to remove the victim, who suffered cuts and bruises to the face.
Police said that additional units were sent to deal with the crowd that had left the night club, and a garbage can was thrown, hitting an officer and breaking the back window of a police cruiser.  Police report that bottles and other objects were thrown at officers.  Two officers were hit in the head with bottles, and additional units were sent from New York State Police, Green Island, Watervliet, Menands, Cohoes, and Colonie.
Of the eight officers were injured, six were sent to Samaritan Hospital where they were treated and released.
Six people were arrested: 22-year-old Quaivon Venson, 39-year-old Tony Carter, 23-year-old Zainob Shaibu, 23-year-old Michael Haight, 22-year-old Rashad Thomas, 25-year-old Roshawon Donley.
