Cats thrown from car in Vermont

St. Albans Town, VT (Newsource) -- A witness saw someone throw a carrier containing five young cats out of a moving car in Vermont on Tuesday.

But there's a happy ending for three of them. They were found and brought to the Franklin County Humane Society. They're safe and sound, although one of them has an eye trauma.

The head of the shelter knew something was wrong when police showed up at the shelter Tuesday. A woman was with them. "The woman had something underneath her little zipped-up jacket. So we kind of figured there was a little critter in there.

Not just one -- but three cats. The woman rescued them and brought them to the shelter. The other two cats couldn't be found.

Volunteers were busy all day Wednesday searching for them -- and were expected to continue the search on Thursday, and police are investigating.

As for the three cats at the shelter, after the mandatory checks and treatments, they will be available for adoption.
