2 die in Andover crash following police pursuit

ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) -- Police say two men in a car that crashed in Andover after fleeing police at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour on New Year's Day have died.

A state police spokesman says Quadeer Dicks of Lowell and Cesar Rodriguez of Lawrence, both 19, were ejected and later pronounced dead at hospitals following the crash at about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police tell The Sun of Lowell (http://bit.ly/1d5djrz ) the vehicle struck a snowbank, a guard rail and the concrete abutment to an Interstate 495 overpass before landing on the opposite side of a highway off-ramp.

Lawrence police had been in pursuit of the car on Route 28 south, but broke off the chase when the car topped 100 mph.

Police did not say why the men were fleeing.
