Crews work to fix gas leak

GLENVILLE -- Crews continue to work throughout the day on Friday.

The leak was first reported around midnight. It took National Grid crews several hours to find the source of the leak at the corner of Schonowee and Washington Avenues.

Officials say they are trying to build a bypass around the leak to avoid shutting it down completely. If they were to shut it down, they say most of Scotia would lose gas.

Authorities say that because the leak is outside, it is safe for people, and no one has been evacuated. Crews will likely be on the scene all day to complete the repair.
