Cold temps may strain Code Blue resources

ALBANY -- Authorities say 17 people came in out of the cold on Monday night thanks to Code Blue in Albany.

Officials say this has been the toughest winter for local shelter agencies since they started the program 4 years ago. They say it has been so difficult because there have been so many Code Blue nights in a row. With the rest of January and the whole month of February still to go, employees say the number of Code Blues could possibly double from last year.

The current Code Blue started on Monday and is expected to run through the weekend. Other municipalities around the region also have precautions in place to protect people from the cold.
