Police: 11-year-old arrested for bus driver assault

ALBANY -- Police say an 11-year-old student was arrested for allegedly assaulting a school bus driver last Friday.

Officers were called to Linden Avenue and Kakely Street just after 3 p.m. for a reported assault. When they arrived, a school bus driver for Durham School Services told police that he tried to break up a fight between two students on the bus. One of the students involved in the fight reportedly pushed the driver down the stairs and hit him in the head.

The 58-year-old driver was treated on the scene for a contusion and head pain and taken to St. Peter's Hospital for evaluation.

The suspect was arrested on the scene and charged with second degree assault.
